Shipping Delays

Due to the Hurricane and freight closures during the end of September, all orders are backed up on our loading dock waiting for pick up.  When calculating delivery times for standard free shipping - 10 weeks for production, 2 weeks for delivery and add an additional 2 weeks for delivery.   For RUSH shipping - add 1 additional week for delivery. For new orders placed in October and beyond,  the lead time is 10 weeks for free shipping and 4 weeks for rush shipping.  Local clients picking up - 8 weeks for no shipping.  Once your pallet is able to be loaded on a freight truck as non stackable (high value - extreme fragile), we will send you tracking information immediately.  We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we get these pallets out as quickly as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know!

Hurricane Ian - Expect Delays

All shipping in the state of Florida, will be experiencing delays for the next week or longer as service centers, airports, cargo ports and shipping terminals are all closed until further notice.

While Ian is making landfall on the west coast of the state near Tampa Bay, flooding & tornadoes have already occurred in south Florida. The storm will likely pass through Orlando and exit through Jacksonville causing even more damage to the state.

Rail Strike on the Horizon

Freight railroads have been around since the 19th century, but you can’t run a 21st century economy without them.

The looming possibility of a strike by unions representing more than 90,000 workers at the nation’s freight railroads has businesses nationwide worried. The unions are poised to go on strike on September 16, a move that could bring nearly 30% of the nation’s freight to a grinding halt, according to data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

It’s about the last thing the US economy needs as it struggles to get over several years of supply chain issues. A prolonged strike could mean empty shelves in stores, temporary closures at factories that don’t have the parts they need to operate, and higher prices due to the limited availability of various consumer goods.

The freight railroads have generally thrived during the pandemic, so a key dispute is not over pay, but rather the rules controlling worker scheduling. Many of the engineers and conductors who make up the two-person crews on each train have to be “on call” to report to work seven days a week, preventing them from making their own plans, depriving them of time with their families and creating a high turnover rate.

Since railroad workers are under a different labor law than the one that control labor relations at most businesses, it’s possible that Congress could act to prevent or quickly stop a strike. But that would require a level of bipartisanship that is rare in Washington just weeks ahead of midterm elections.

President Joe Biden prevented a strike two months ago by imposing a cooling off period during which a panel he appointed, known as a Presidential Emergency Board (PEB), looked at the disputed issues in the negotiations and issued a recommended settlement.

That 60-day cooling off period is due to expire at 12:01 am ET Sept. 16, and Biden does not have the power to prevent a strike at that time. Only Congress can act to prevent a work stoppage, either by imposing a deal on the two sides or to extending the current cooling off period.

The unions argue the companies are making the profits on the back of their employees, creating conditions that are driving workers to quit. Employment at the nation’s major railroads is down by more than 30,000, or about 20% of the workforce, since the last contract was reached in 2017.

Leaders of the unions say their members are now at a breaking point and that they are eager to strike to win changes.

Hurricane Season Prep

Preparing for hurricane season is quite possibly one of the most looked past forms of prep in the world of logistics. Hurricane season for the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast runs from June 1st through October 31st with heightened chances from early August through the end of October. Everyone has heard the phrase “better safe than sorry,” and this couldn’t ring more true when discussing the possibility of a potentially devastating hurricane interrupting your supply chain. Being located in Tampa, Florida, we take every precaution to ensure your products and pallets arrive safe to all of you throughout the United States.

      COVID-19 & Hurricane Elsa Update

As everyone is well aware, we are experiencing a global pandemic and have to navigate our business accordingly. We know that you are anxiously awaiting the arrival of your doors and hardware.

We are happy to announce that we are no longer experiencing lumber and wood product delays. Glass delays are an ongoing issue. We are dealing with major shipping and freight delays as well. Our current lead time is 10 weeks and all freight shipping, as well as small packages (UPS, FedEx, USPS), is experiencing longer than normal delays. Freight carriers are currently rejecting one in every four loads tendered under contract terms. Unfortunately, the driver shortage is still an issue. Backlogs continue to hamper some parts of the country due to weather, COVID-19 impacts, and overall capacity constraints.

Thank you for your continued support and allowing us to continue building your custom doors.  We appreciate all of you so much!!!
